Bitter Chocolate Necklace
Bitter Chocolate Necklace
This yummy necklace was designed by Kelly using beautiful David Christensen Cane Glass Beads in Safari Mix and sparkly Chinese Crystals...it's very simple to make and beautiful to wear too!

Ingredients
2 meters of 0.5mm Waxed Cotton Cord in Black
David Christensen Cane Glass Bead Mix in Safari
8mm Crystal Bicones
8mm Caramel Bicones
8mm Topaz Rondelles
1 x Silver Plated Decorated Square Toggle Clasp
2 x Silver Plated 7mm Split Rings
Tools Required: Side Cutters, Chain Nose Pliers, Split Ring Pliers (not essential but desirable as they really save your nails!)
Method
1. Begin by cutting the waxed cotton cord into two one metre lengths, then tie both lengths together with a knot that's about 2 inches from the end of the cord.
2. Next thread a bead or rondelle onto one of the strands of waxed cotton cord and tie another knot in both strands about 1 inch away from the first knot - the bead or rondelle will then be "trapped" between the two knots and will be sitting on one of the strands of waxed cotton cord (see picture above).
3. Continue threading on beads using a random design remembering to knot the cord after each bead.
4. Once your necklace is the desired length you're ready to attach the clasp using the cord ends - simply insert both strands of waxed cotton cord into one of the cord ends and fold the sides over using your chain nose pliers - you may wish to secure the cord with a dab of Hypo Cement but as long as you've squashed the cord end nice and tightly this shouldn't be necessary. Repeat for the other side of the necklace and snip off any excess cord.
5. Finally attach the pretty decorated square toggle clasp to the cord ends using the split rings - you'll save your nails if you use split ring pliers to open the split rings!
Design Tip: This necklace design will work for longer or shorter lengths so just make your necklace what ever size you like!
