Metal Clay Fun Days with award winning artist Julia RaiIn this fun, one day beginners metal clay class, award winning artist and teacher Julia Rai will introduce you to the wonderful world of silver metal clay. You’ll learn how to work with metal clay in a relaxed, supportive atmosphere. The emphasis will be on building confidence by working at your own pace and showing you just how easy and fun it is to make simple pieces of jewellery with this revolutionary material.
You’ll make a flat charm to start with, just to get you used to working with silver clay, covering rolling out, texturing and cutting shapes and holes. You’ll learn to further refine your design when the clay is dry and also how to torch fire your piece and polish it. You’ll also learn how to correct mistakes and rehydrate clay that’s dried out. Once you’ve learned the whole process, you’ll have the chance to make a moulded charm, a simple bead or explore your own ideas. By the end of the day, you’ll have enough knowledge and confidence to create your own unique jewellery with simple tools at home.
All the equipment you need will be provided and you can buy a metal clay tool kit during the class if you want to continue creating as soon as you get home. By the end of the day you'll have enough knowledge and confidence to create unique pieces of jewellery using metal clay at your own kitchen table!
They day will be relexed and fun and Julia will work with individuals at their own pace to ensure they achieve their goals for the day.
The course cost includes 20g of metal clay which is enough to create the basic projects. You can buy additional metal clay on the day or bring your own metal clay if you'd prefer.
Cost - £100 per person including 20g metal clay (worth £44.35) & refreshments (please bring along a packed lunch)
