How to make a wire wrapped loop
This is an essential jewellery making skill which can be used to create earrings and to attach beads and charms to necklaces or bracelets.
You will need a pair of Round Nose Pliers, a pair of Chain Nose Pliers and a pair of Side Cutters.
Step 1
With your right hand (left if you are left handed) grip a strand of wire or headpin with round nose pliers about 1cm from the end.
Step 2
Bend the wire to form a right angle.Turn the wire away from you with your right hand, while pulling the wire around the round nose pliers with your left hand to make a loop.
Step 3
Take your chain nose pliers and grip the loop while using your fingers or another pair of chain nose pliers to wrap the wire. Note: Using round nose pliers rather than chain nose, to grip or wrap the wire may dent it.
Step 4
Continue wrapping until you have the desired number of coils. Remember to keep your coils consistent throughout.
Step 5
Snip off any excess wire
Step 6
Flatten the cut wire with your chain nose pliers to prevent scratching or snagging
