Pearl & Crystal Cocktail Ring - Spoilt Rotten Beads

Pearl & Crystal Cocktail Ring

This pearl and crystal cocktail ring is perfect if you’re new to making wire jewellery.

Supplies

0.8mm wire,

0.4mm wire,

Selection of 4mm and 6mm Pearls & Crystals

a ring mandrel, pencil, wire cutters & chain nose pliers

Method

  • Take your ring mandrel and draw a pencil around the mandrel to indicate which size you’d like your ring to be (the easiest way to do this is to take a ring that fits you and slip this onto the mandrel – then draw around the mandrel to indicate the correct size).
  • Now take a 30cm length of 0.8mm wire and wrap it around the mandrel 3 to 4 times.
  • Now cross the ends of your wire over and use your chain nose pliers to bend one end of the wire down over the ring base:
  • Now wrap this tail of wire around the ring base 2-3 times – pulling your wraps tight with your chain nose pliers:
  • Take the other tail of wire 1/3 of the way around your ring base and repeat the previous step.
  • Snip off the tails of wire and use your chain nose pliers to tuck these ends into the ring base. The gap between these two wraps is where your beads will sit:
  • Now take a 1 meter length of 0.4mm wire and attach it to the base next to one of the wraps that you just made:
  • Now start adding your crystals and pearls – you can add 2-3 crystals at a time. Thread the beads onto the wire and lay them across the ring where you want them to sit. Now secure them in place by wrapping several times around the base. Make sure your beads sit on top of the ring and don’t slip underneath the ring base:
  • Keep on adding more beads to build up your design – you can keep it simple, or really go over the top with lots of sparkles:
  • Once you’ve finished adding your beads simply wrap the tail of 0.4mm wire around the base several times and snip off – neaten any sharp edges with your chain nose pliers:
