Wrap Bracelets - Spoilt Rotten Beads

Wrap Bracelets

Make a gorgeous wrap bracelet using size 8 seed beads, 4-6mm beads and leather….

To make a wrap bracelet you will need the following;

4-6mm Round Beads, Size 8/0 Seed Beads and/or 4mm Firepolish Beads (we used mountain jade beads and 8/0 Miyuki beads in galvanised muscat to make our bracelet)

1 meter of 1mm Leather Cord in your choice of colour

S-Lon D thread in a matching or toning colour

Button

Tools Required: MacrameBoard, Macrame Pin, Two Beading Needles size 10, Little Bird Scissors, GS HypoCement

Method:

  1. Add your button onto the length of leather cord and take it to the centre of the cord as shown:
  2. Now take a scrap piece of cord and make a loop with it. Take the loop around your button and use it to attach the button and leather to the centre groove of the macramé board:
  3. Now take a 2 meter length of S-Lon thread and add a size 10 beading needle onto each end.
  4. Take the S-Lon thread and knot the centre of the thread around the two pieces of leather just below the button so that you have an equal length of S-Lon on both needles:
  5. Now take your threads underneath the two lengths of leather and up through the middle:
  6. Take your right needle and thread on 1 bead. Take the left needle and take it back through the bead from the opposite direction. Pull tight:
  7. You will find that the needles have now swapped sides. Once again take the threads underneath the two lengths of leather and up through the middle:
  8. Now take the right needle and thread on one 6mm gemstone. Take the left needle back through the bead from the opposite direction. Pull tight
  9. Now continue adding beads in the same way in sets:
  10. Repeat until your wrap is around 1 inch shorter than you want it to be (to go around the average wrist it should be between 14 and 16 inches long).
  11. When you get to the end of the bracelet simply knot the S-Lon thread around the two strands of leather in a double knot and add a dab of GS Hypo Cement to secure.
  12. Now take the bracelet off the macramé board and remove the needles from the S-Lon.
  13. Now knot the leather together right up close to the last bead – you can either trim the S- Lon thread before you do this or bury the ends of the S-Lon thread in this knot before trimming the S-Lon.
  14. Finally tie two loops in the leather to fasten the button into – adding two loops makes the bracelet adjustable which is great if you are giving it as a present and don’t know an exact wrist size
