English beadwork artist Heather Kingsley-Heath’s love of beads and colour is infectious and she has inspired and encouraged many budding designers. Her’s work is delicate, richly detailed and infinitely wearable, often inspired by history and vintage treasures. As a tutor Heather is a kind, patient, lively and inspiring teacher, generous with her design processes and techniques. She teaches regularly both in the UK and overseas. 

Heather is the creator of Albion stitch, a beading technique and has published two books on the stitch. She is also co-author of the Tudor Inspirations beading book. Her work has been featured in many magazines.

Choose from one of three projects:

Entice Necklace

Inspired by the jewellery worn by the character Mercedes Mondego in the recent adaptation of the Count of Montecristo. Entice is a delightful collection of D shaped bails, embellished with chatons and crystals. Pendants include crystal bezelled oval stones, chatons and daintly pearl and metal drop pendants. The necklace is hollow mesh chain finished with beaded end caps.

Skill level: intermediate, to advanced,  confident with thread tension, able to make thread path and direction changes.Techniques: Albion stitch, Right Angle Weave, Netting.Kit: £70.00 available in three colourways.

Tea Garden Tassel Necklace

Inspired by a Japanese tea house in an English country garden,  a slinky rope of beading, insterspersed with crystal and colour change sections. The pendant is a framework of bezelled chatons, the bail and tassel bail move freely on the frame. The tassel is luxuriously silky tassel and surrounded with beadwork and fringing. 

Skill level: intermediate, to advanced,  confident with thread tension, able to make thread path and direction changes.

Techniques: Herringbone,  Albion and Peyote stitch, Right Angle Weave, Netting and Fringing.

Kit: £70.00 available in four colourways.

The Scissor Keeper

The Victorian Scissor keeper is a delightful fabrication of silks and bead embroidery. Hand stitched using fine jaquard lining, silk velvet and pure silk fabric, then embellished with a delicious selection of crystals and seed beads. Deigned to fit a standard size pair of Stork embroidery scissors or similar, the finished keeper measures 7.5x11.5cm.

In class learn how to construct the keeper using simple sewing techniques, then how to add the bead embroidery and beaded edgings. 

Skill level: Basic sewing skills (able to stitch two pieces of fabric together with small stitches) Bead Embroidery.
