Diamond 7 and Variations
This wonderful pod shaped bauble pattern is based on peyote stitch. The original design has 7 panels which are stitched together to create the pod shaped bauble. Single drop peyote stitch is used along with a novel increase thread path which gives the pod a softly rounded shape. However Helen is currently working on a new variation of this design which will alter the finished shape of the bauble which she will be demonstrating during this workshop.
Flower Cube
This design is inspired by one of Helen’s favourite garden shrubs and uses a variation of circular peyote stitch where graduating sized beads are added in a regular pattern called the Cellini Peyote technique. The geometry of each element and the increases added in each round means the beadwork is neither tubular nor flat. It takes on a distorted and textured petal shape as it grows. When elements are joined together beautiful ridges and grooves are formed which make graceful shapes. The design can be used to create pendants and christmas decorations (the cubes look wonderful with a little electric tea light inside them!).
