Method

  1. Cut a 20cm piece of wire and wrap a double loop at one end.Wind the end of the wire down 4 times and trim any excess. This is your guidewire. Thread on your first bead.
  2. Take a 1 meter long length of wire and wrap it around theguide wire 4 times in front of the pearl – wrap towards the pearl and not away fromit.
  3. Now bring the wire up along the right side of the pearl andwrap over the top and underneath the guide wire. Bring it down the left side ofthe pearl.
  4. Wrap the wire over the top of the guide wire and under, justbelow the pearl, as you have done at the top. Bring the wire back up the rightside of the pearl. Push this section of wire withyour fingers so that it isunder the first one. Wrap over and under the guide wire just above the firstwrap youdid. Bring the wire back down the left side as before. Do this a totalof three times making sure you have pushed your pearl closer to the wrappedloop on the guide wire as it will be moving around a bit.
  5. Cross the wire over the guide wire and wrap it around fourtimes – add on your next pearl and repeat steps 3 & 4 until your braceletis the desired length.
  6. Finish by snipping off the wire after the last herringboneand use the guide wire to make another double wrapped loop – trim the excesswire and flatten any sharp edges using your chain nose pliers. Add a jump ring& clasp.
